JAGANNATH TEMPLE

Built in the 12th Century AD, about 65 meters high, standing on an elevated Platform with a Patita Paban Bana on the Neelachakra or Blue Disc swirling majestically in the blue sky Shree Jagannath Temple at Puri. India exhibits the fine craftsmanship of the Odisha architects. Shree Jagannath the Lord of the Universe, with his sister Subhadra and elder brother Balabhadra hold sway not only over Puri, but the entire state. the main temple is surrounded by a host of smaller temples within its percents including the temples of Goddess Vimala, Maa Laxmi and Vishnu.


LINGRAJ TEMPLE

Lingaraj Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Harihara, a form of Shiva and is one of the oldest temples in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha .Bhubaneswar is called the Ekamra Kshetra as the deity of Lingaraj was originally under a mango tree (Ekamra) as noted in Ekamra Purana, a 13th-century Sanskrit treatise. Shiva is worshipped as Harihara, a combined form of Vishnu and Shiva. The temple has images of Vishnu, possibly because of the rising prominence of Jagannath sect emanating from the Ganga rulers who built the Jagannath Temple in Puri in the 12th century.
